Q: What does the 1HY and 2HY in Chevy Silverado description stand for?
on chevrolet’s website, when looking at a chevy silverado hybrid, you can select 2WD or 4WD, and you can also select either 1HY or 2HY. does anyone know what the HY stands for? hybrid seems like a logical choice, but what would that mean, 1 hybrid, 2 hybrid, what would that be?
A: For the Silverado Hybrid, there are two trim levels – 1HY and 2HY. On the gas model there are 5 – WT, LS, LT, XFE and LTZ.
The 1HY is the lower level with cloth seats, standard radio, etc. and the 2HY is the top level with leather seats, navigation radio, Bose audio system, etc. Mechanically the two trucks are identical. For a complete list of the differences between 1HY and 2HY see the side-by-side chart here:

I would like to remove the factory radio from my 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic and install a new non-factory radio with sat radio and IPOD jack, but was told this may mess up my alarm sensor. Is this accurate, and can a radio change be done?
A: you can change out the radio in just about any car or truck, and with the alarm all you have to do is bypass it and get the alarm to run on its own power source(like the battery) since its getting its power from the stereo, or if you dont want to do that you all you need to know is wat wires go where… i would take ur truck to a car audio place and have them check it out…

A: I know whats wrong.You should have 2 regular taillights on this truck. Each of the tail lights have 1 single bulb with 2 different ends. The reason why your brake lights and turn signals are working is because the bright end of the bulb is functioning. However, the ends that are not bright (parking lights) are out, so you need new bulbs.
You need to replace both your tail light bulbs, thats it.

A: I think its best if you check with your local repair shop or dealer. There isn’t any mechanical parts, as one comment said about a cable. It’s all electronic. Without proper training and equipment to diagnosis this problem, it would be a total guess, and that can get expensive. Save yourself some time and money in the long run, pay a diagnosis fee. Quick note- if the odmeter still works, yet the speedometer doesn’t, then odds are its in the cluster. If neither work, it could be the cluster, wiring, PCM, speed sensor,, etc. Either way,, the cluster has to be sent out to a special shop used by GM.

Q: How Can I Improve Chevy Silverado 2500 W/Vortec 6000 Fuel Mileage?
We own several Chevy Silverado 2500 with Vortec 6000 gasoline engines. Model years range from 2002 to 2005. We used to get 15 to 17 MPG. Now we get 10 MPG. Any tips on how to improve fuel mileage and get it back into the mid-teens?
While it might be nice to extend the fuel mileage beyond the original, I am simply trying to get it back to where it was when the vehicles were new. We routinely use fuel injector cleaner. Sometimes this improves the mileage but the results usually only last for a few weeks. The results may be deceiving because we often use the cleaner right before a long trip.
These vehicles are usually driven an average of 30 miles per day. Normally these are highway miles with some city driving. Typically 2/3 highway, 1/3 city.
I believe that the intake filter has been changed but I will check it/them. Never thought of the exhaust issue. Sometimes these trucks are driven off road (construction) and it is possible that one or more of the guys hit something.
One of the vehicles (2005 Silverado 2500HD 3/4 TON) has a ladder rack on it. That one never gets good mileage. Usually 10 to 12 MPG. I suspect that the wind resistance of the ladder rack causes the poor mileage.
A: one of the best ways that i found to improve gas millage is a cold air intake. when gas goes into the combustion chamber not all of it gets burned up if you force colder air in as well the plugs fire and burn more of the gas that’s already in the chamber witch in turn improves your gas millage not by a hole lot but it does help. other things to check would be your plugs and wires and tire pressure

A: depends on what shop you go to labor according to motor alldata is 2 hours- they may charge for a pressure test or something- the price for the part is about 130 for an oreiley new part- again this depends on the part store you buy it from the cheapest route to do this if your going to do this at a shop is to buy the parts and coolant you need dexcool by the way dont forget the gaskets if they dont come with the part- and take it to a shop and tell them you want them to put the water pump in all you pay to them is the labor- a lot cheaper.

A: You didn’t tell us if it was 2WD or 4WD, so I’m going to assume 4WD for this answer: A good 4″ suspension lift will run you $1000 just for the parts… labor would be another few hundred dollars. A big chunk of that cost is new suspension mounts or spindles to prevent over-extension of the ball joints. If you can live with a 2″ lift then the kit prices come down to the $400-500’s.
