A: That’s a little much. Whether the engine will be used or new will depend on the buyer.
There aren’t many cases where a newer engine is completely gone. I’d personally keep it and get a gently used engine [Under 80,000 miles]. It might be pretty fun to rebuild your current one as well. I’m in the process of restoring a badly abused 89 Oldsmobile Cutlass and at first I thought I would just give up, but it’s actually become pretty fun and rewarding. Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

A: Only body parts are 68 Camaro. 67 doors had vent windows. 68 rear quarters, & front fenders had marker lights. Most all suspension / under carriage parts will inter change with 68 – 69 Camaro’s, & 67 – 69 Firebirds.

Also, the window motor in the car is broken. It won’t raise the window. I want to buy another door so that it doesn’t get rained on or anything. How much do you think it will cost or does it take a brain surgeon to repair it?

Labor will be about 8 hours. Prices for this can also be very different. Around here they are as low a 35 dollars an hour to 150 dollars an hour.
Shop for the best price for the dollar, make sure that the engine will pass a compression test. Remember that some one who does these jobs on the side can take weeks to do what a shop can do in one.

A: Check with your local car rental companies to find out what they do with their Camaros when they get rid of them. Most of them will go to the auction and only a dealer can get one. Find a dealer that is willing to look for one for you and set a price you are willing to pay (condition and mileage) for the vehicle. Most likely this will not be a Chevrolet dealer but a used car dealer. There is probably a local dealer that buys mostly auction vehicles to resale because they can get them cheaper.
I work at the local Avis and we turned our Camaros back in with around 6-7k miles on them. We had the 6 cyl and the SS models.

A: I work at a salvage yard and those fenders normally go for about $75 and the door (electric) around $150, so yeah pretty good deal. Very lucky find.

Considering the time frame, check the price on ‘97 Camaro. A decent ‘97 will set you back about 2.5k, but ‘02 Camaros are special. Granted that ‘97 was the 30th anniversary, ‘02 was the 35th anniversary and the final production year for the car up until this past March when the 2010 model was brought to the market. Because of that, they’ll always be worth a little more than the Camaros with the same body style, which would be ‘98-01 (the new front end was released in the ‘98 model year).
Of course, this is all assuming that people will still want these cars. You might actually be able to get an ‘02 or around 2.5k in five years. Who knows? Cars are risky business.
