Q: Is the drive belt tensioner on a 2000 Dodge Neon a replaceable part?
I may need to replace the drive belt tensioner on my 2000 Dodge Neon. After calling around, there is no parts store in town who stocks it. When I called the dealer, they said it is sold with the engine mount as a set. Is it possible to replace just the tensioner on a 2000 Dodge Neon, or is it attached to the engine mount? If it is replaceable, where can I find the part?
A: the only part that is serviced seperatly is the pully if tensioner replacement is required you must purchase the assembly
Q: 97 dodge neon. How can I fix my radiator that has a pin hole in it?
I have a 1997 Dodge Neon and I just noticed today that there is a very tiny stream of water pissing out of the radiator. I heard there was something you could put in with the radiator coolant that will seal cracks and holes like that. Is this a good idea or do i need to get a new radiator?
A: I’d highly recommend that you check the rad fully over or have a rad shop etc check it for you. Also if you want to you can add pepper to the coolant via either the rad or overflow container but don’t use regular pepper use the round whole pepper. Also you can add some rad leak fix but some of them don’t really work and there are several different types but if it’s a tiny hole most of them should work. Not sure of who makes it but for that type of leak I use the one that comes in a small clear plastic container.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you do a lot of driving and that’s the original radiator I highly recommend that you try either getting a good used rad from either a U pull auto wreckers or wrecking yard or shop around bec you can find some new or rebuilt rads for as little as 100-200 bucks or so.Here’s a few things to watch for when checking a rad make sure that the metal rad fins aren’t soft to the touch, also check for a greenish corrosion on the metal and at the end of the metal tubes, plus if you notice that the rad coolant is quite dirty or brown or has rust particles etc the rad maybe rotted or rusted internally.
Q: How much will it cost to replace a brake light switch on a 1999 Dodge Neon?
It looks like I need a new brake light switch on my 1999 Dodge Neon. I know that I can get a new one for under $20. In general, how much will a mechanic charge for labor? I’m going to try to fix it myself, however I’m not all that good with cars.
Thanks in advance.
A: the part cost about 12-15.00 bucks and the labor on replacing it only runs around 15.00 bucks, its just takes about 5 minutes to replace it,auto zone or advance either one has the part for the same price, good luck with it.
Q: How much would it cost me to replace a automatic transmission in a 2003 dodge neon se?
I don’t know whats wrong with my dodge neon? the car has a issue that when im going at high speeds (55 or 70) and coming to a stop. it always jerks at 25 mph. i took it to the dealer ship and they told me that they really didn’t know what the problems is. but they did say that it might be the the valves are sticky. i think it might be the transmission. it also only haves 88,000 miles.
A: take it to a repair shop that deals with nothing but transmissions and let them test drive it,they will do this for free, then they can tell you whats causing that too happen if its not slipping then it doesn’t need a transmission just a repair, any transmission shop will be glad to do his for you,if you do have to replace it your looking at about 1800 to get it rebuilt,i got a friend that does this for a living and he,s considered to be high on them and that’s what he charges, you can price one out on this site they ave the best ones in the business, and come with a 3 year 75 thousand mile warranty, they sell engines and transmissions, good luck.http://www.jasperengines.com/
Q: How to replace left headlight on a 2002 Dodge Neon?
I have a 02 Neon and the driver’s side headlight needs to be replaced. Thanks to some smart engineers over at Dodge they put an air filter in the way. Does anyone know how I can get to the bulb. I tried taking off the two nuts that hold the headlight assembly in place but it didn’t budge.
A: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE YOUR HEADLIGHT HOUSING COMPLETELY!
DRIVER’S SIDE:
Remove your air filter housing cap by unscrewing the screws until you feel a “pop.” Then there is a 3″ diameter hose that is “L” shaped; pull straight up and remove that. This will give you enough room to access your light bulb.
PASSENGER SIDE:
You can reach this bulb with no interference. Just twist the closure ring counterclockwise and remove.
Q: How much can I sell Dodge Neon interior seats for?
I have a full set of Dodge Neon seats that are in really good condition, except the drivers seat. There aren’t any rips or tears anywhere. Does anyone know how much I could sell it for?
A: The scrapyards are full of Neons and there is very little demand for replacement seats for that vehicle. The highest demand is for the driver’s seat, and you say that yours is not in the greatest shape. It is going to be hard to find a buyer, and if you do, you are looking at $50 -$75 for all the seats.
Q: Can I put a dodge neon body kit on a chevy cavalier without major body mods?
there are plenty of interior mods for cavaliers from rksport and they also have better engines than neons. I have a 97 neon but want to get a cavalier convertible and supercharge it. now the question is. I can’t find any good cavalier body kits but found a cool neon body kit. neons and cavaliers are almost the same car and I just want to know if I can put a dodge neon body kit onto a chevy cavalier without any huge modifications to the car.
A: Not a chance! Almost the same, and Exactly the same, are not the same thing! You would have to extensively modify the kit to make it fit.
Q: How to switch incomplete monitors to complete for 96 dodge neon?
I just recently smoged my 96 Dodge Neon and failed due to incomplete monitors, 4 total, how due u complete them or activate them???
A: The best way to complete the monitors is to just drive it in all road conditions, freeway above 60mph, stop and go traffic and several ignition cycles, should clear up by around 200 miles
Q: How much do these repairs cost on a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT?
Hello,
I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT with almost 90,000 miles. I’ve been told that it’s almost time for my timing belt to be changed (I actually think it doesn’t need to be until 120,000 miles so maybe my mechanic is trying to rip me off?). The estimates have ranged from $400 to $1000. Who is right? I know that I can get the actual part for $55, as well as a timing belt tensioner for $69. Also, my car idles pretty rough and shifts and downshifts pretty rough sometimes (even though it’s an automatic) but I rebuilt the transmission about a year ago. Could my oxygen sensors be bad? My ex-mechanic boyfriend thinks so, or something with the fuel intake. Oxygen sensors run for about $82, but how much would a mechanic charge? I just want to know what to expect when I go into a shop if these 3 things actually need to be replaced. Thanks to anyone who knows!
A: I wouldn’t take a chance on the timing belt and tensioner. If it goes, you’ll bend valves at the very least. Probably ought to go for a water pump while you’re there, since you have to take the same stuff off to get at that. Did it myself not long ago, and it was kind of a pita getting the pulley and motor mounts off. Of course mine are probly a lot rustier than yours…..
Rough running could be almost anything. If its sensors, those will show up in the trouble codes, which you can get scanned for free at Autozone. I would guess something else, because bad O2 sensor should light up the check engine light.
The guys in the neons.org forums have been a lot of help to me with my ‘96.
Q: How much would it cost to paint my 1996 Dodge Neon?
I want to paint my red dodge neon orange. How much would that cost? What if I wanted to paint the hood black too?
A: More than its worth
It depends a professional could charge up to a couple thousand dollars. Doing it yourself is a very involved project and could still run up $1000 to get it done right.
Q: How do you change head gaskets in a 1999 dodge neon?
Can any one tell me step by step how to change a head gasket in a 99 dodge neon? The shop said it would cost 800 for the part and labor, so I am trying to find someone else to do it cheaper. and also are the gaskets expensive?
A: the gaskets aren’t to expensive but having the head trued back up and tested for cracks is and you also have to replace the head bolts on those cars, the price they gave you wasn’t a bad price at all,if you want a step by step ,you need a repair manual or else you,ll mess up and have to do it all over again, there are other shops that will do that one for less, but that price isn’t a bad one at all, find an independent shop to do it ,their labor rate is a lot cheaper than other shops are, good luck with it.
Q: How do you install an exhaust system on a dodge neon 2000?
Is it easy to install install an exhaust system on a dodge neon 2000 and if it is how do you do it? I have WD-40 a jack stand and a full toolset. Please help
A: It depends on the system installed. My 1995 Escort has a welded exhaust, and it is stainless steel, Can’t do that one at home, but then stainless exhaust lasts a LONG time, have only had to have one weld re-tacked, nothing ever replaced, the time I have had it.
If yours has a welded stainless steel exhaust, it can only be serviced by someone with a MIG or TIG welder, unless you want to cut the old one apart and put a cheap system on.
If you have the regular exhaust, and it is clamped, not welded, you can do it yourselft, piece by piece, like a follow-the-numbers puzzle, provided you have a means of safely lifting the car so you can work under it, and you have purchased exact-fit components, not universal off-the-shelf parts. One jack stand won’t help you much, you need to see the whole system all at once, and get completely under the car.
Personally, I would bite the bullet, and get a supplied and installed system from a shop with a full warranty on parts and labour, nation wide.
Q: Is it possible to convert a Dodge Neon engien is to an engine that can power an aircraft?

Q: How many watts does a 2004 Dodge Neon stock stereo receiver have?
I want to get a new stereo deck non-expensive. The stock stereo sounds good already, but I want to get something a little better in wattage comparison.
So would anybody know how much watts the 2004 Dodge Neon stock radio receiver has?
thanks
A: An 04′ Dodge Neon stock head unit puts out about 12 to 15 watts RMS. As so, you can replace it with almost any aftermarket head unit that will offer you much more additional features such as ipod/mp3 conectivity or mp3 cd player. The best way to improve your sound in my opinion is to install a slightly higher output headunit and also change your door speakers to something a litter higher quality. I changed my stock head unit to a sony xplod one and all 4 door speakers to polk audio multiple channel speakers and noticed a great deal of improvement without having to add an amp or subs although the sony unit has outputs for that as well if you ever wanted to in the future.
Q: When can i get a rebuilt dodge neon engine?
Im about to buy a ‘97 Dodge Neon but the engine has 197 thousand miles and I wanted to know where i can get a new engine when I need it.
A: junkyard sells them and there are a lot of engine builders that sell rebuilt engines, look in the yellow pages in your area for engine remanufactorers, I hope your your getting the car for a real good price as a new engine and labor could cost you as much as $3,000 or more.
